Mango Vodka Soda
May brings in the mango season on full throttle and this yummy fruit is so versatile you can make so many things with it be desserts, salsa, chutneys or drinks. So I made this MANGO VODKA SODA to kick start a nice day filled with lots of sunshine. If you have ever been on a trip to India and have tasted the street soda you'll immediately resonate to this drink. I remember having this soda each time I went out for an evening walk in hot summers. This soda is a perfect drink on hot summery days or evenings as it will immediately cool you down and bring a fresh energy and uplift your mood instantly.
Normally the masala soda is made with spices like chaat masala, rock salt, black pepper powder mixed with some lemon juice, simple syrup and bottled soda served over ice. But since mangoes are in season I just wanted to add a little twist to this street style soda recipe.
So here is a quick recipe so you can make some and enjoy the beautiful weather and get some kick to your evening.
NOTE- You can skip the vodka to make it non alcoholic.
PREP TIME - 10 Mins SERVING SIZE- 1 Tall Glass
Ingredients- Per Glass
TBSP= Table spoon TSP= Teaspoon
3 Tbsp Mango puree (you can use fresh or canned)
30 ml Vodka
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp chaat masala
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp rock salt (sanchar)
1/4 tsp black pepper powder
club soda per size of glass
1 tbsp simple syrup (optional-add in the end if you like it sweet)
* In a glass add in the mango puree, rock salt, cumin powder, black pepper, chaat masala & lemon juice. mix well.
* Add in the vodka and tear some mint leaves roughly and add to the mango vodka mixture.
muddle the mint if you like (not required though).
*Add in the ice cubes till half way of your glass and pour over the club soda. Mix well and enjoy.
NOTE- Mango puree already has some sweetness so I didn't put the simple syrup but feel free to add if you like it sweeter. Also you can add more of these dry spices to your liking if you like it little stronger.
